The procedure
Labiaplasty is performed under analgosedation combined with local anesthesia — the patient is asleep and entirely free of pain and discomfort throughout. The procedure takes approximately 1 hour. The surgeon removes excess or asymmetric tissue precisely tailored to the patient's wishes — the most commonly used techniques are the trim method (direct edge trimming) or wedge resection, which preserves the natural tissue structure. Sutures are absorbable, the scar is unobtrusive and runs along the natural tissue edge. The procedure includes a one-day clinic stay, and the patient goes home the following day.
Recovery and results
Recovery after labiaplasty is fast. Swelling and sensitivity in the first week are normal and manageable with standard pain medication. It is recommended to wear loose cotton underwear and avoid sport, bathing, and sexual intercourse for 4–6 weeks. Patients in sedentary jobs typically return to work within a week. Absorbable sutures dissolve on their own within 3–4 weeks. Results are permanent — removed tissue does not regenerate. The final result is fully visible after 2–3 months when swelling has completely subsided and tissues have healed.
